hello, i am ready to purchase this awesome laptop, and am wondering about a few questions...

is it easy to upgrade the ram on the e1405? I will definitely go from 512 to at least another 1gb of ram, is it easy to remove the casing and install?

which wireless card is best? obviously the more expensive, the better it probably is, but i want the best bang for the buck. will i be ok with the standard dell wireless card, orr should I upgrade to an intel?

    Dell Wireless 1390b/g (54Mbps) VS Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g

also one more thing, do you guys recommend getting the 9cell battery over the 6? Only 49$ more....what do you think?

    Thanks a bunch people!

The 512mb that comes standard is installed internally, and is slightly harder to get at (popping off keyboard) than the RAM slot on the bottom. I'd rate it a 4/10 in terms of difficulty- Dell does a great job having service docs and instructions available on their site.

Get the intel 3945a/g and the bluetooth module. The intel seems to get better reception overall. the BT is a great upgrade so you can pack a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, or a cellphone that can do EDGE/EVDO wireless.

9-cell sticks out the back like 3/4 of an inch, but boosts the average battery life to 8 hours or more. Worth every penny when you can work a full workday, with the laptop on and working every moment and off the charger.

ram is not too hard to upgrade 1 on bottom and 1 under keyboard
