Got a new dell e1405 just the other day. Tokk off all the useless junk and stuff. JUst wondering...

I just noticed that when the computer isnt doing anything, just sitting with the desktop on the screen, no programs running, the mouse will show up with the hour glass every 20 seconds or so. And this has been a good 30 minutes after initial startup? Does anybody know of any program that could be constantly running in the background?

No prgrams have been opened. Its just wierd.

    Please help if you can.

    maybe the HD indexing?

or if you uninstalled, then you probably didn't get all the junk you thought you did

I'm almost sure your right about those 2 files associated with google toolbar because I did take that off.

    BUT..listen to this....

I go into the file folder, to delete the two files, and send them both to the recycling bin. And then I delete them from the recycling bin.

(this is where it gets weird!) When that hour glass would usually show up, it still shows up, but that hour glass is the file, loading itself back on the computer!!! I can see it right there! I delete it from its location, both files, and delete them from the recycling bin, and the next time the hourglass shows up, the file reappears right where it was deleted from.

    hopefully its not a virus.

any more inf would be greatly appreciated.

I turned off the gtb program associated with dell e-help desk that was starting up with the computer and the files dont restore themselves anymore.
