Newbie here ... great great site. I'm considering a Dell e1505. I'd like to be able to edit home video from the computer - will I be able to do this? I have a Canon Z75 Camcorder. What will I need to make this happen? does Windows Media Center provide the software for this or will I need a software program? Will I need IEEE port to transfer the video?

    Thanks in advance.

The E1505 does have a firewire port. But I'm not sure if its firewire 400 or 800 (1394a or b). Pretty sure its only the slower 400 series because the website doesn't say its b model.

I think all Dell notebooks come with an even lower verison of FW (FW200?) - you need the 400-200 pin adapter to use it though.

E1505 comes with a full speed s400(400Mbps) 4-pin firewire port.
It's not a 6-pin connector like macs and pc desktops but it is full speed.
