    Hi,

I just purchased 2 Corsair VS1GSDS667D2 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select SO-DIMM Memory Retail so I could upgrade my e1505/6400 to its full 2 Gig capacity. I had a read a few reviews of other 1505 users who had used this memory successfully so thats what I decided to get.

Ok so I had read that you have to install the memory 1 stick at time. So I took out both my 512 sticks and put 1 of Corsaid gig sticks booted checked the bios...bios saw the memory correctly at 667mhz so then I proceeded to boot up. Ok so windows gets to the windows logo screen then shortly after BSOD (blue screen of death)

So then I put one of the old modules back in and one of the new ones. Booted checked the bios and then booted into windows XP normally but shortly after crashed.

Man this sucks I read a few people on newegg advise as to this working with the e1505.

Anyone out there have any opinions as to what could be wrong? I am running the latest bios too which is A09.

I would run a memory scan on the new stick and see what it comes up with. Sounds like the memory is defective. That kind of thing happens from time to time. If you got it from newegg then use their online rma form to ask for an exchange.

what makes it 'value select' is that it undergoes no testing before it gets shipped to retailers. All the low-price RAM (not to say that expensive RAM isnt sometimes junked too) is usually untested. Newegg is used to RMA'ing RAM, they must do it a thousand times a day.

Corsair is a very very good supplier. I doubt you'll have the same problem twice.

Well I just checked Corsair's web site and it doesn't list that memory as compatible when you run the configurator. I am such a dummy I actually read the reviews on newegg but ordered from zipzoomfly and now I just read that they DO NOT do exchanges...So that means I will have to get a refund and eat a 15% restocking fee how lame. Last time I order from these guys...Actually i just want 2 exchange to a more expensive memory they do have in stock.

Initially I thought maybe I had a bad stick as well. So since I got 2 (1GB) sticks I put one of the 512 stock in and the new 1GB stick which eventually caused me to crash. I then tried the other one and same deal. I can't imagine they are both bad.

Anyone have any idea what software could identify the faulty memory?
