I've been saving up for a new laptop, but am having some problems deciding on either a 15" or 14" screen. Can anyone share thier experience with the e1505? Is it easy to get around with? Do you sometimes wish it was a bit smaller?

I love my e1505. It is actualy not too big. I can easily fit it in my school backpack. It is not too heavy, but if you want as small as possible I would go with the 12 inch dell.

Battery life is pretty good as well. Much better than any laptop I have used.

    1.83 core duo
    256 x1400 graphics
    1 gig ram
    centrino.

remember that when you're talking about the difference between a 15.4" and 14" notebook you're talking about two completely different machines.

the 15.4" will have the option of dedicated vidcards and highres lcds. the 14" will not have a dedicated vidcard and the highest res screen you can get is wxga+ and that is only on the 620 (every other 14" and you're stuck with 1280x768). as well, the 14" is smaller and lighter and will have better battery life the 15.4".

you really need to get out to a shop and look for yourself. if you're taking the time to save money, you want to make sure you make a good decision. deciding on an element like screen size (which also means notebook footprint size) is something only you can do for yourself after seeing them in person for yourself. screen size (as well as resolution) preference is something that is different for everybody depending on their preferences and usage needs.

again, you can't make this decision without going out and comparing different screen sizes and seeing the difference for yourself.

it would suck greatly for you to spend all that money you've been saving on a computer with a screen you hate because you took someone's advice on a forum instead of looking for yourself.

other stuff we're glad to help you with, but this is one area where you gotta compare for yourself and figure out which is best for you.

drumfu, I completley agree with what your saying. However, I have already been to the store a few times. I like the smaller footprint of the 14 inchers, and since I would be moving the laptop around, and be puttig it on my lap often, I figured 14 would be the way to go. But, as you said, there are several advantages to the larger screen. Higher resolution, deticated video, etc.

So, I'm stuck, and am torn between what to get. I'm not really asking anyone to tell me "you should get this" but more looking for some personal experiences with the laptops. For example, did anyone else have the same dilemma as me? And is anyone not happy with their 15 inch, and wish it was smaller?. Your personal feedback will help me decide what is right for me.

    Thanks guys!

    cool cool.

i just didn't want to see you waste your hard-saved-dollars by taking some advice that you really didn't like.

    good luck.

btw, i have a 15.4" and i take it everywhere and it's fine for me. sometimes i wish i had a smaller footprint, but i don't want to give up my WUXGA. if i could get a WUXGA in a 14" :)O), i would

I am typing this from the M140 right now, I had it for 3 weeks but realized I needed graphics more than I thought I would. I was waiting until more information on the E1405 was discovered, to see if that would have dedicated graphics. It didn't, so I ended up exchanging my M140 for an E1505. It comes tomorrow, and I'll be returning my M140 on Thursday or Friday.

I am indeed in the same dilimma as you, I want something small, but still powerful. There are a few models out, including some Sonys that offer both of these, but they are $2000+ which I am not in a position to purchase. So I traded off the size, for the better preformance. I figured the small size jump, is worth the huge preformance jump.
