    Hey guys,

I have a e1505 with the stock sound card sigmatel and I was wondering if there is anyway I could get better sound out of this computer.

I don't know if this is a well-known problem but when I plug my headphones into the headphone jack, there is a high pitch hum and it sounds like a bit of a static and though it's not extremely loud, it's very annoying and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Is there any way I can get rid of that or is there another way I can get filtered or purified sound? I have an m-audio pre amp im not sure if that can do the job or not.

    Please let me know!

Well, all sound cards have a little bit of noise (even mine). What I would recommend is getting a volume adjuster for your headphones and turn it down until the noise disappears. Then use your system volume to get the sound to the right level.

If you want awesome sound quality, I would recommend the Creative X-Fi Notebook. It fits right into your ExpressCard slot, and has connections for line-in and speakers. You can also tell it to redirect its output to the laptop sound card, so you can still play sound through your internal speakers while it's plugged in.
