Hey guys,
My e1505 has so far been all that I expected of it and more. But now, whenever I unplug from an ac outlet, my battery tells me that it is 95%. Yesterday it decided it was 96%. The day before, it was at 97%. What gives? I constantly have this thing plugged in, and do around 8 hours of work on it. When I do switch to battery, I would expect a full charge, especially since, when I plug it in, I reports the battery as 100%.
What gives?

just one thig: DELL SUX! (well most of em)
-
Most rechargeable batteries lose about 1% per day.
-
That means I need to replace the battery 3-4 time a year?

That can't be right....in that case my battery would be dead twice.
-
theres no way that can be right...you should probably call Dell about this one, because I certainly dont consider a battery acting like this to be normal

How new is your notebook? And how many times have you had to recharge it?
Lithium Ions kind of need to be broken in before they work 100%. Also you may want to try fully draining the battery, and do a full recharge to see if that makes a difference. -
I think its around 5% a year, i could be wrong though -
5% a year sounds a lot better...anyone who understands how a battery works knows that it will eventually lose some charging ability, but one of the reason computers use lithium batteries is because they last longer...maybe a rechrageable alkaline battery loses 1% a day...

Batteries act weird in the beggining stages of their life. Mine had similar problems also, it was at 96% charge. The key is to let it drain all the way, and then let it fall all the way back up, then I got to 100% again. My battery life is fine to, I would recommend using your batter for at least 2 weeks on a regular basis, charging and discharging all the way when needed, and then see if the problem still exists. If it does, contact dell.

i don't think that draining and filling the battery does anything to the battery, but it actually adjusts the computer. Draining the battery until the computer shuts off allows the computer to recalibrate the battery meter, and then charging it allows it to do the same at the other end of the spectrum. Repeating this cycle several times a year will help keep your battery meter calibrated. Although your computer says you only have a 96% charge the battery may actually be fully charged, but the computer only thinks it is at 96%. I agree with AnimCreed in taht if you do this several times and nothing changes to contact Dell.

Im runing a 1505 that I got this past December. Today I got the "your battery may need replacement" message. I went to Dell and checked their batteries and all 32 reviews say that the Li-ion battery in these things suck. All have operational life of 4-6 months. Seems to me Dell should be figuring out why and issueing a recall.
I end up doing this about once a month for various reasons. It hasnt helped me out at all. -
you guys have no idea what you are talking about...
Unless you discharge it a bit more than 95% before you plug it in again, sometimes the adapter thinks that it is already full and will leave it there. Its just a fluke. And as your battery dies, the % readout does NOT change. Even if you only get 5 min of battery cause it is completely destroyed, the readout will still say it has cahrge 100% of that 5 min.
