My e1505 15.4 WSXGA+ screen on my 1 year + dell just cracked while I was closing the lid.

    1. Can I 'upgrade' to a WUXGA without a problem, or do I need to stick to my original screen resoultion ?
    2. Can I purchase older model lcds (8400? ... ) ..

    Inspiron E1505 Intel(r) Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB)
LCD Panel 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™
    Video Card 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON(r) X1400 HyperMemory™

    Thank you for your help.

I don't think so as the graphics card needs to support the higher resolution. I haven't tried it but you most likely will end up with a blank or white screen. Also wiki suggests that they both come in different sizes typically, so it it won't fit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WSXGA+

I dont see why you couldnt buy a replacement lid unit of your choice from the available configs from dell (the video card should support them all with the latest firmwares). but cost wise it may not be worth it. Grats on your new slim line desktop pc. ;)
