Just got my brand new e1505 with the mobility x1400 and I was planing on using it to watch divx stuff through the laptop to my tv. I hooked up the s-video correctly but I can't get any picture on the TV. I know something is going on cause the TV flickers when I mess with the settings. I know it's not the TV because I used to have my desktop hooked up through S-Video all the time. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knew what was up or had the same problem with the same type of laptop. Thanks.

Go to Catalyst Control Center, make sure its in Advanced mode. Go to Displays Manager, to the right there will be an image of a laptop in a box, then next to it an icon of a TV, and next to it a graphic that has a 1 in a rectangle. Right click the TV icon and select "Extend Main onto TV".

DId you hit the monitor control. Fn + (monitor key)

Does anyone elses Catalyst control center look all distorted? The text is hard to read.

when I press the Fn + monitor key it says presentation mode is off...is it spose to be on? and how do I turn it on? Once again it flickered on the TV but still remained black with no windows desktop.

for the catalyst distortion check what your dpi is. cause for me when it was set to 120 it made the catalyst text distorted and cutoff, one I wentback to 96 it was perfect.

I had the same problem with my dell 700m.
The thing that I realized after playing with the settings is that the Fn+monitor key ONLY controls what comes out of the external monitor plug on the laptop. And yes, you will see flickering on the tv
For s-video output, make sure that the plug is plugged into the tv and laptop, otherwise the output screen does not show up.
Right click on the desktop, as if to change the visual properties, but instead click on "Graphics Options". If both ends of the cable are plugged in then there should be an option called "Output". Click on that, and then from there, there are many options like, output to TV only, TV and notebook monitor, and so on.
Only problem I seem not to be able to solve is that it always shows up on the TV screen in black & white, but, that could be my s-video cable
Hope that helps.
