Sounds like a good deal. When did you purchase your new Dell.

5/1. One of the E-value deals with the upgraded GPU and display. Used the 40% coupon and a -$35. It would've been less a week ago but they discontinued the "free" dual core upgrade and switched it to the DVD R/W drive. Cost me $150. Oh well.....

    Is that including tax/shipping?

I was convinced I got a better deal on the e1505 than anyone but you may have shown me up.

Free shipping. Tax was $50ish. Out the proverbial door was $917.

I'm planning to purchase the E1505 as well. Is the 917 including any MS Office software or anti virus software. Warranty?
    Thanks.

No office stuff. I was planning on using open office (I use it in my linux boot). There are a couple different "free" office suites that have gotten good reviews. Just the standard warranty. never been a fan of the extended stuff (on anything).

Are you going to dual boot between Windows and Linux on the E1505? If so what distro? Which wireless card did you get? Which GPU did you order too?

I'm asking as I tried a few different distros on mine and I couldn't get any of them to work 100% (some wouldn't play well with the Intel 950 GPU, none would recognize the Intel 3945 A/G card).

No, I plan on keeping my e1505 strictly XP.

I think I probably got the best deal you will ever get. There was a one day sale on Dell Outlet with 40% coupon.

E1505 with 1.83 (T2400) dual processor, x1400 (256MB ATI card), 1GB RAM, 60GB 7200RPM drive, DVD+-RW, WSXGA + TrueLife (high resolution screen) and 85Kw (high capacity) battery, loaded with XP Home. I plan on using this machine for video editing therefore needed a better graphic card and faster hard drive. Just was lucky to get it configured exactly for my purpose.

All for $798 out the door (tax and shipping included). Can't beat that deal! Anyone with a better configuration for cheaper? Just currious.
