I'm trying to figure out which LCD I have on my e1705. Looking at the dell service tag it looks like it's an AUO.

LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, WXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., AU OPTRONICS CORP

So going to the AUO site I see two 17" screens listed.

    AUO screens

Is there anyway to tell which I have? There is a big difference between the two listed. Thanks.

Download Everest, and it will telll you the exact model, and also a load of other details about your notebooks. It is a good program.

There are a few difference between the 17" models. The first is the screen reponse, with the newer 04 ending model, having an 8 ms response, while the 03 has a 16 ms response time. Also, the brightness of the models is different, with 04 at 500 cd/m² and the 03 at 200 cd/m². Theres also a slight difference in power rating, and also the colour saturation. Hope this helps.

According to everest the model # is auo3287. I couldn't find any info on it other than an old thread in these forums. Some of the details in everest do not match either of those two LCD's listed on the AUO website (aspect ratio 5:3?). Is there anyway to test for response time and brightness levels?

See if you can download Everest Ultimate Edition. That has more recent products in it, and it may give you the screen you are looking for. Bear in mind, its a trial version, so it'll constantly display a pop-up, with how many days remain. But, you just want one detail, so it should be okay.
