Hello,
I currently have a e1705. The graphics card (7900GS) died soon after the warranty expired. I no longer have a desire for this laptop (on top of that it has dead pixel dell refused to warranty, and now part of the screen, different area from the dead pixel, is actually "dead'). I want to get rid of it but figured it would be good to install at least a new graphics card in it before selling it (as it artifacts during bootup and also crashes occasionaly). I am more than capable of replacing the card myself. However it seems that most 7900GS's I find are in the $200 range. That is more than what I want to spend. I know that the e1705 was available with a x1400. So my question is will this:

Work on my e1705? It only states Dell Inspiron 6400 and Dell Inspiron E1505. Ebay has a bunch of these cards on there for cheap and I hope to replace it. Also what do you think the laptop is worth? It has 2 GB of RAM, 7200 RPM 80 GB HD, 2.0 Ghz Core 2, DVD Burner. The screen has the problems that I listed but is a 1920 x 1200 screen and it is physically in great appearance..

I dont think so. I think the 17" is longer.

Heres one you could potentially get pretty cheap. Seeing as how youre just trying to offload it and not game on it, the x1400 should do fine.
