I was reading some reviews and it was noted that, First to reformat the hard drive with XP Pro and the run windows media from the desktop?

Were they meaning the entire windows media center program?

Can you run the media buttons on laptop if media center is not installed and XP Pro is?

Who here likes media center or XP Pro and a few reasons...thanks

Basically, XP Pro and MCE are the exact same core system with a few different features. I'm not exactly sure what reviews you have been talking about, but you install which system fits you. Yes, your media keys will work with any XP system, and so will Media Direct.

If you are in to entertainment more, then get MCE. If you aren't or have to log in to a domain network , then get XP Pro.
