I placed my order this past Sunday (Mother's Day) By Monday it had already processed and gotten all the way up to Boxing, which is where it is right now (at least according to their website). I can't wait to get this. This is what i bought with my graduation money. I got an amazing deal too!

    Inspiron E1705:
Windows XP Media Center Edition + Media Center Restore CD (to get rid of annoying extra programs)
Intel Core DuoProcessor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WUXGA
512MB, DDR2, 533MHz 2 Dimm (my friend can upgrade it for me)
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800
Free 100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive upgrade from 60GB
    8X DVD+/-RW Drive
    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps)
Integrated High Definition Audio, for XPS M1710
80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
    1 Year Limited Warranty.

Total Price (Before taxes and coupon): $2,066
Total Price (After taxes and coupon): $1,394.96

$750 off Select Notebooks $1,999+ + Free 3-5 Day Shipping.

I can't wait! As soon as I get this I'm going out and buying BF2 and loading that baby up.

So how long do you think it'll be since it got to Boxing on the first day?

It usually takes less than a week. But it depends. Dell might have a hard time getting the 7800 GO and it could be longer. Dell's usually take 2-3 weeks to get to you. I think there should be a sticky about this issue. It seems to be a question that is often addressed.

A week in Boxing, or a week over all? I was under the impression that since it was in boxing, it already had all the parts (like the 7800 GO) and was assembled

Interesting... you ordered yours a day before mine, but your est. ship date is a day after mine.

Lets race! I'll post the second I get it up and running.

Well...if the website is correct then the boxing is taking place. Boxing takes 3 business days, in which the laptop is shipped from Malayasia to the US and boxed in the retail box and shipped to the end user.

My estimates is if it was in boxing on monday, then it should be shipped on Wednesday. If you do the 3-5 day shipping you will receive it on Monday-Wednesday of next week at the latest.

    Hope that helps. :p

Still waiting for mine as well!

Is all this for show? The Dell Rep told me the E-1705 was made in Texas! I think not. Other than warehouse tracking via computer I wonder how much of this is a consumer placebo? My neighbors E- 1705 was DOA and would have some words for me if he new I was risking another Dell. :D If I get a good one it’s a keeper…but my neighbor would love to have a few words with the “testor”

May everyone's machine be good ones!

My friend has an Older model Latitude, my other friend has an Inspiron 9300 that is amazing, and our friend has a ridiculous setup (cause he has just recently started working in laptop upgrading and such). I'm not too worried, or at least I wasn't until coming here. But i have faith in Dell.

    USAF, thanks for your input.

Dell should really consider just letting the Malayasian factories box it in the special Dell box with the manuals and all and just ship directly to the user instead of having a middleman. Unless that would up the price too much.

Well I believe the boxes are manufactured here in the states by a contracted company, so I would up the cost due to shipping them over there. :p

But I guess if they contracted there to make the boxes. :p

t'would be nice. Although a week for a new laptop like this is incredible as is. I've just been waiting 18.5 years to get a laptop. I guess a few extra days won't kill me.

So the Boxing actually means it's shipping, but shipping to Dell as opposed to it's rightful owner :D

Air Force dude, do you play BF2?

It seems that it should not take that LONG for dell to do that....If dell ships my laptop by DHL then i should have it in 3 days since they shiped my bag for my laptop by DHL

Well the thing that takes the longest is the flight from Malayasia to the US. So that is why boxing takes 3 days. It isn't boxed until it gets here to the states.

I figure you would be a pretty good pilot in game. It's amazing. Gunna be the first game and 2 expeansions I install on my e1705. Battlefield 2, Special FOrces Expansion and Euro Forces Expansion.

Maybe I'll catch you on there and you can fly me around and bomb things.
