    Well, ive had my e1705 for about a year, and just recently after installing some software it seems, its gone downhill from there.

    the cpu randomly goes to 70+% usage when just pidgin, steam and firefox are open and now my gpu runs ~15 degrees hotter than it ever has, with stock clocks, a reformat didnt help. and games will play for about 5 min then drop to 1 fps...

    wtf?

    What did you install?
    It sounds like you might have picked up some malware.

    adobe premier, but i reformatted afterwards and i still have the problem, you think it may have overheated and broke something somehow? its felt pretty toasty before

    A reformat didnt help you say eh?
    Well that should rule out malware... Sounds like your having gross underclocking issues... grab I8kfangui and try setting your fans to max speed and keep it there then play a game.
    Also: try cleaning out the gunk your fans have built up over the last year.
