The lid is set to do nothing but the screen turns off and i cant get it back on by using the keyboard or mouse.
Only way is to use function keys to standby and bring it back.

what exactly is the problem here? (sorry, I just don't get it right now)

Well it is perfectly normal. You can go to the power options and set an option which says "When I close my notebook lid - DO nothing" or something similar on these lines.
Currently when you close the lid the screen will go blank and the GREED POWER LED on the hinge starts blinking. Right? You won't be able to get it back (don't know why) with simple mouse movement or clicks. I think pressing the power button will shut it down. But try getting it back from the same state. -
Okay, first of all, no matter what you (unless you turn of a service), your screen will turn off when you close the lid. All laptops are set to be like this.
Now for the second problem of waking it up - that is a different story. When you open the lid, it should come back. First, check your power management in control panel or Quickset to see what you have set. Make sure that you don't have anything set for turn off hard disks, standby, or hibernation.
If any of those are turned on, then the laptop will go into that mode. When this happens, is your power light on or flashing or completely turned off? This will help decipher what state your laptop is in.
