Did it install before? If so, did you make sure to install all of the required Dell drivers (system notebook software, chipset, etc) prior to installing the sound card drivers?

actually it never installed before. I know it is just a software upgrade, and I could call dell, but with what a nightmare that is I thought I'd see if there was any well known way of fixing this.

The computer came PRE installed with the HD audigy, and it worked, but after I formated to install vista, nothing. And now with XP nothing as well.

Did you install of the required Dell XP drivers, as I asked in my previous post? Did you visit the Dell support site and download all of the XP drivers and notebook system software/chipset files?

There is no fix, because there hasn't been any reports of the Audigy upgrade not installing. I'm guessing you are missing some key drivers/software packages.

I have a 1530 which I formatted and reinstalled Vista Ultimate. The audigy software won't install. It says the install key is incorrect. I called Dell and they said it's an issue with Vista and should install after I get Vista SP1 (so basically I got no where by calling). I can't confirm if it was working before the format because I didn't check...

Indeed I have not installed every dell driver. I guess I'll wait until everything else is done before I finalize the audio. Would I need to installt he sigmatel + the creative audigy advanced MB?

Not all the drivers that dell lists on the site apply to each system. and I do NOT still have my resource CD (well I do, but I am pretty sure they bundled the wrong one with my system).

I got it to work. I think that the problem was that I tried to install it AS the driver. Instead I had to install the driver first, and THEN install the Audigy MB. thanks Guys.
