Well I'm considering going with an e1705 for a gaming laptop at a fraction of the price of a true gaming laptop... My question is simple...

Should I deal with the known heat issues of the more powerful 256mb Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 GS or go with the less-powerful 128mb Radeon x1400 HyperMemory?

I plan on playing the latest games and I defintely want to be able to play with max settings on and the highest FPS possible. Speaking of which, does anybody have a link to the benchamrks of a x1400 and a Go 7800 being compared?

Thanks in advance for any help, info, or tips!

Your comparing two completely different things. The Go 7800 is at least twice as powerful as the x1400 so l wouldn't even consider the x1400 as a option.

if u want to game seriously with high settings go with the 7800. not a doubt. the x1400 is capable of handling games at med settings easy also.

There's really no comparison between the 2 cards in terms of absolute performance - go with the 7800 and get some good cooling pads and maybe even open it up and add some paste to dissipate the heat better.

As everyone here has said no comparison if you want/need a good GPU the 7800 is the way to go.

Thanks for the info guys. I was and still am going to go with the 7800, I just kept on reading more and more complaints about the heat problem and the fan's on and off thing. I just wanted to make sure dealing with the heat is well worth the card.

    Thanks again!
