What are the practical build quality differences between the e5250 and e7250?

As written here http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/latitude-e5250-laptop/pd the e5250 is now offered with a magnesium reinforced lid. Is the rest of the casing predominantly plastic for the 5000 series?

If all latitudes are built to the same mil-std specification, apart from weight and size, is the premium placed on the 7000 series justified in terms of materials used?
