You should Contact dell and in behalf of delay you can ask for free upgrades.

    That is "estimated". :)

What is your delivery method? Is it Overnight? Ground?

Contact Dell via Chat or Phone, and ask them what the lastest information is on your lappy. :) Good chance it may ship out today!

Good luck! (Mine is in the boxing stage, and I'm anxious on my ship date)...

I feel your pain. I would need to write a book about Dell's customer service and how I waited to get my laptop for almost two months, incorrect orders, wrong parts, shipping to a wrong address... It goes on and on. You would not believe it.

Finally, I got the laptop and it is really nice. Feels well built, performs well, runs smooth. I had some issues with the quality of display, but I might be able to live with it. I looked at many alternatives, read many other reviews, looked at other laptops in the local stores, and really could not find anything for the money that would be as nice and that I could configure the way I liked it.

It is really disturbing that their customer service, tech support, everyone, suck BIG time. Everyone, but one person I spoke with were in India... Need I say more?

I think we are all taking this with a grain of salt...the size of a horse lick!!!lol
That's the thing for the most part a comparable pc elswhere is usually costing more...hence this "may" be my fourth one...but I was told in an email to give it a few more business days...otherwise who knows...

The problems you guys are having is just short supply. Currently, the real problem with laptops being held up is the RGBLED, they are in very short supply, and orders are being delayed indefinitely. Orders that were placed with WLED's are getting shipped out early.

Also be aware that if your order does not get produced/shipped in a certain time frame they will automatically cancel your order without telling you. You need to talk with the order modification department if you have been waiting almost a month to tell them that you want to wait.

Yes & No, my order was in production (build stage) for a little over 2 weeks..then went into the "boxing" stage for about 2 days, and was shipped to me.

It depends on the individuals order, and the system being built ~ for ones that are being "held up".

If they are going to cancel and order, they used to at least send the e-mail for cancellation..and give you the number to contact for Modification, or call you to advise. They are no longer doing this?

My system was a 1640, and I had the RGBLED...so the order was not delayed "indefinitely"..(well at least for me it wasn't).

My suggestion is to always stay in contact with Dell Chat/or speak with a Rep on your Order Status. Keep track of your "Case Numbers" given, it's your "documentation" of the conversation.

Calling the Automated dial helps...BUT...I only trust the information given on what Stage the order is in vs. the ESD shipping date. As, the system like to give out erroneous information at different times, with each phone call!

Don't give up on your orders...I know it's hard when you are waiting, so long for something you want so badly! :)

In the end it pays off...You will have that lappy you really wanted & will be enjoying the use of it!

    Cin...

They are still doing it. I got the email saying they would cancel in 24 hours, and also gave me a phone call asking me if I wanted to keep waiting. And yeah, I'm going to wait. I can't find another 17.3 RGBLED anywhere else.

Apparently NOT. My order was canceled without notice and I found out by accident when I logged into my account to check the status, and of course, had a fit.

After returning the incorrectly configured Studio 17, I was lucky to come across a very polite and KNOWLEDGEABLE rep (one of their managers) who also follows up on everything he promises and saves me a bunch of calls and time, by calling me back. It seems to be a rarity with Dell these days. Overall, the customer service is CRIMINAL.

Apparently, Dell counts on people to continue buying their products because they know that the competition is not much better and in many cases just more expensive for the same or even inferior product. With no financial (dis)incentive (=boycott) their customer service is unlikely to improve.

Mines a Dellienware and mine keeps getting pushed back as well. What i dont understand is how dell goes about making and delivering systems for other people with the the same spec weeks after i placed my order..

This is dells atititude this past month and a half... ""oh well you placed your order on the 1/18? well this dude placed his on the 29th im going to go ahead and build and deliver his system first and them im going to push back your delivery date almost a whole month, thanks for ordering dellienware! the 3grand you wanted to spend is cool but you not really important!."

It's great if you can wait that long. It's not only that I lost patience, but I really need the laptop when I travel and to wait for Studio 17 with RGBLED may take forever. I had several conversations with some of their high level managers and they claim that it'll be a while before Studio 17 with RGBLED is available again. That kind of uncertainty with an open date was totally unacceptable to me, therefore I took an alternative.

Besides, I had the Studio 17 for several days before I shipped it back (because it erroneously came with a regular, non hi-res, non RGBLED display), worked on it and it's really nice, although in all honesty, it may be a little too large to carry around. Very easy to setup network, Wi-Fi, everything. Win 7 works like a charm. But a low-res screen of that size is just B-A-D!

Again, as far as the size/wght, if it's your main unit and you mostly move it around the house, it's fine. But packing it into a bag, taking it on the road, airplane... Not sure I would have liked it after a while. Just my $0.02.

So did they say if laptops already ordered with those screens will make any headway?

Mine was ordered that way and got nowhere. They canceled my order without even letting me know, and when I raised hell, they built another one without letting me know that it was WITHOUT the RGBLED display. I almost had a stroke because of these clowns. When I insisted on Studio 17 w. RGBLED, they politely advised me to go with a different machine (XPS 16 that does come with RGBLED and which IS in stock). They said no date known, if any, for Studio 17 w. RGBLED.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck on your order. I'm about to call Dell to find out what happened to mine. It was suppose to ship today but no change in status yet.

I had a quoted EDD from the sales rep in Italy over the phone of roughly one month (order/pay 2/4 and EDD was 3/3) and I received my laptop this morning about 10:20am GMT+1.
