hey I have a DELL XPS with T600 and Nvidia Geforce 7950 GTX 512MB RAM, and I am working at 1920*1200..

I am thinking of getting an external flatscreen and had a look at DELLs 24" and 27" inch screens, both support this resolution, so I was wondering if you have any experience with these screens?
can you recommend them at all?
how are the screens for gaming? (I like 3D action shooters and heard that some monitors have a too slow reaction time, is there a way to calculate if it says 12ms?)
is the 27" much bigger than the 24"? cuz there is a 300$ price difference
the 30" would even need a special graphic card, that my laptop doesn\t have.. this won\t be necessary for the 24 and 27 inch screens, right?

    thanks

I have a Benq 24" which does 1920x1200, and it works great (using DVI). This is the maximum resolution the M1710 can handle. So the 30" screens are out of the question, unfortunately. Get a 1920x1200 screen.

I chose the Benq over the Dell because I could rotate it 90 degrees, which is really useful if you do some heavy document editing. Not all Dell LCDs do that.

As for the size, get a big ruler and compare. 3" is significant.

Otherwise I've heard many good things about the Dell LCDs actually. Check out some online reviews, such as http://reviews.cnet.com (my favourite).

the review i posted had a picture of the monitor in portrait mode and a little comment about it. i would assume that it could do it then.

Yes, seems it can. I don't think the 27" can though.
