Hi,
The cooling fan on my Dell Studio 1535 used to be quit silent, but now it is suddenly running with a high speed an is very loud, even when I'm only using the internet. It is very disturbing.
I would be glad if anybody can tell why this is happening and if it is possible to make it more silent.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
What are your actual temps when the fan is running at high speed?
-
How do I measure the temperature?
More precisely, is there a thermometer inbuilt in the laptop, and if that is the case, how do I get access to it?

Just use HWMonitor or any of the usual monitoring apps... you don't need anything special.

The Main board is 42 degree C (108 F)
The intel Core is 37 C (98 F)
TMPIBO is 52 degree celsius (125 F) -
Those temps are not too bad,
It is possible your vents are getting clogged up with dust. -
Maybe, How do I do to clean the vents ?

Here's the pdf to take apart to look at your fan vents...if it wasn't loud before and it is now and you haven't cleaned out your vents then in some time that would explain your increased fan noise as well. But if you haven't cleaned out the vents since buying the computer that could another reason why the dust bunnies are growing inside the computer and could be the cause the excessive fan noise.

You and Dave-P were right ....
I fixed the problem using the vacuum cleaner, and now the fan function is back to normal
Thanks for the service manual info. I might have use for it in the future -

Unlike a Desktop that can handle dust bunnies growing laptops can't for anyone thinking the cleaner the vents and fan the longer your laptop will last til basically the board goes dead but redoing the thermal paste for processor and discrete GPU does help to extend the laptop life as well. But as anything you need to maintenance it to keep it lasting.
