On HL2 and CS:Source I can get a constant 60fps at 1680x1050 (with V-sync enabled) no AF or AA.

Ah thats cracking, all i needed to hear! I assume cos it's at 1680x1050 you don't need the AF/AV and can put details to high?

Not a Vostro 1500 owner, but that machine is the cousin of mine so I'll comment....

I play HL2 with everything on max and no VSync and the game plays smooth... No choppiness or anything...

I've had better results with sports games running at 1680x1050. Madden 08, Tiger Woods 08, & Virtua Tennis 3 are flawless. Test drive unlimited, Quake Wars, & COD2 I'm playing at 1280 x 800 or 1024 x 768. I got some pretty high res with BF2 but got bored of it.

The last time I played HL2 was less than 2 years ago on my P4 Prescott 3ghz, 1gb ram and on a 6600GT, and it struggled a bit at 1280... with most stuff set to low and no aa/af! It wasnt a fun experience to be honest so as long as I can get a fun experience this time around on the vostro 1500 i'll be really happy! :D

I can assure you that you'll get a more than fun enough experience in HL2 as it is loaded on my i1520 :D

Unless the Vostro 1500 is insanely different from my i1520 :|

Yeah, HL2 barely even makes the 8600 sweat, >70fps at WSXGA+ everything full, no AA/AF since it isn't needed
