My drive recently quit working. Put a disc in and get a dialog box regarding the disc's format. I searched the forum and found a bunch of posts regarding faulty drives. So I'm pretty sure that's what's happening here. But one final question before I purchase another one on ebay:

    1) If the device manager list the device (DVD Toshiba) as present and working and 2) you right click and the eject option is functioning but every DVD and non-DVD refusals to play, saying the disc needs formatting or cannot be formated, can the problem still be a faulty device inspite of these other varibles?

...additionally no other right-click option functions, ie, explore, open, etc.

You don't happen to have Nero's InCD running, do you?

No, I don't. I take it the thing's ready for the drive-bone yard. Thanks, and sorry 'bout the delay.
