a week back I received my new 6400 and have few queries regarding it

    1) My hard disk model no. is samsung HM 160JI ATA. The problem is that none of the hardware monitoring tool is able to detect my hard disk like hdtune, speedfan etc.. hdtune is able to detect only initially after installation but not after that when I again start hdtune. any solution for this problem.

    2) my laptop came with dell network assistant tool so I wanted to know is it of some us or I can safely uninstall it.

    3) thirdly if my laptop is connected to power source and my battery is fully charged then is my laptop consuming power from battery or power source?

I can answer the third - when plugged into the wall, your laptop won't be running off the battery.

Just going about this logically, lets assume for a second that it did start using the battery when it was fully charged (but still plugged into the wall). A millisecond later it would have to start charging again, since the battery is no longer full.

And yes, I've left Dell's turned on and connected into the wall for like weeks at a time, they don't switch to the battery when its charged and then turn off when the battery get depleted again.

Oh and, you get a rubber ducky for using the word 'query' :D

If you are running windows vista you got to run hdtune or I8KfanGUI you should run it as an administrator other wise it won't detect the hard drive  .
