    finally placed an order Vostro 1700

    Here is what I got:
    T770 cpu.
    17" wuxga display.
    2G Memory.
    256MB 8600M GT.
    160 G 5400 RPM HD.
    8X DVD+RW.
    1390 Wireless card.
    56 WHr 6cell battery.
    Complete Care 3 year accidental damage warranty with On site service.
    Bluetooth module.
    Vista Basic OS.
    This is for $1648 + tax with $150 Dell Dollars.

    I already have a 4G memory set and a 160G 7200 HD ready to be installed in this when it arrives. I hope I don't get any of the display issues people have been seeing.

    looks like a good system. i think you will be ok on the screen, i haven't seen a lot of complaints about the wuxga... no reason to worry overmuch before you get it ;)

    price looks fine to me. i haven't priced the 1700s like crazy or anything, but with 3 yrs. of warranty- you should be set. enjoy your machine!

    are you planning on having both drives in the laptop? i think the 1700 will accept 2 hard drives... there may be warranty issues though, dunno.
