hey everyone...quick question...3 of them actually..... 1) im bout to take my inspiron 1525 out the box and dont really know much bout computers so i need to know what do i need to do to my laptop to get it up n running besides charging it..i have internet service and a router already but dont know what if anything i do when i open the box. 2) i bought the 1525 with 2.0 ghz processor, 3 gb memory and 250 gb hard drive from best buy for $600. my question is should i buy the extended warranty from best buy/geek squad for 2 years at $200...does anyone have experience with this..what do they do for me? 3) is there anything i should either install or uninstall or programs to run and so on that will make my new laptop either faster or safer or whatever reason so long as it would help it somehow... fyi...i will be using the laptop mostly for paying bills and a lil myspacing and a lil shopping perhaps and listening to itunes library and emailing/downloading of pics....definately no gaming or graphic related stuff

im not sure if theres any pre-loaded stuff on in-store computers, but if there is you'll want to un-install the stuff you wont ever use. also drain and recharge the battery to get it to its full potential. sounds like you got the perfect computer for what your gonna do. have fun with it!

thank you...let me ask u this....for my needs and uses is it worth spending another $200 and getting the studio 15 with the a 2.16 ghz processor opposed to my 2.0 as well as 3gb memory (same as mine) and 320 gb hard drive opposed to 250 on mine..the studio is thru dell with the backlit keyboard and finger print reader and a N wireless card which i guess is an upgrade from G....or should i take that $200 and get the 2 year extended warranty from the geek squad/best buy which also cover accidental spills and drops?

if your only gonna do what you described and never plan on doing any gaming and such, keep what you have and spend the $200 on the warranty.
