    hihi

i formatted my laptop about a month ago and it turned out pretty much fine, just was taking a very long time to shut down, about 10 minutes. just recently i went to play a DVD that did play before and an IO device error came up (the DVD wont play in media direct either). so now i am thinking i didn't do something right on the format. also, i now have an E disk on the hard drive, should i format that too as when i click on it it proms me ...it is not formatted and would i like to now?
sorry i dont know too much about computers, but i followed the instructions in this forum about how to format and stuff

any ideas on this would be a great help....

    cheers

Can you use the drive for other things aside from watching a DVD (burn a music CD, or copy data from the DVD drive to your hard-drive)? Typically, an I/O error indicated a hardware problem, so I am not inclined to believe that formatting your HDD played a role in your problem. If you are getting I/O error doing other things then it is most likely a bad DVD drive. What software have you installed for DVD playback?
