I know it exists in cs 1.6, I would just like to know if there is a console command so your fps shows in other valve games, like portal and tf2.
Edit: I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry.

ATi Tool, Google it.
-
I think this is what your looking for.
Make sure the console is enabled by going to Options > Keyboard > Advanced > Enable Developers Console. After that press "~" on the keyboard and the console will pop up. Type "cl_showfps 1" into console command line. Press submit and your FPS will show up at the top right of the screen.
I'm running HL2 at an average of 195fps.

Yeah cl_showfps 1 will do the trick. There is another console command that gives you more specific data, but I forget what it is.
-
net_graph 1 shows you fps, bandwidth usage, ping and other stuff too.
-
I think that might have been what I was thinking. Does cl_showstats 1 work?
-
ATi Tool will show your FPS in any game.
-
Using the built in console is the way to go IMO as you don't need to install anything to find performance stats from within the game.
-
Its a comprehensive Overclocking tool with built in Artifact finding..not a program just to find performance stats in a game.
-
fps_max # - limits fps
cl_showfps 1 - shows fps
cl_showfps 2 - shows fps min/max -
does cs 1.6 only show 100fps max?? cuz i wanna see how much i really have which is 100+
-
I use the net_graph command too.. it gives a lot more useful information besides the FPS.

By default its 59-60fps in CS. Some people get 99-100fps in CS is because they disabled vertical Sync via Nvidia Control Panel. But I find it useless as our human eyes wouldn't trace anything (or smoothly the same) more than 50 - 60. Enabling it would be a better option as the textures look "anti-alised" (though it isn't) and no shearing and tearing while you're moving around.
Anyways, I used cl_showfps 1 to show the FPS. I use net_graph 1 to have a more detailed view of the FPS transfers. To cap your FPS just use fps_max (number) to limit your FPS.
If you want to find out FPS in games like Crysis which has no inbuilt FPS counter, FRAPS would be a better option. -
Yeah.... I would suggest using cl_showfps 1 unless you can speed read
Ati-tool works well, Fraps works well, and like other have said the netgraph command is good. -

net_graph 3 shows a little more...

Don't forget net_graph 2 as well.
But I doubt a newbie or any normal player would want to see alot of info which he or she might not understand, or adding for the sake of fascination purposes.
