    so my notebook has always had overheating problems with the vid card since about 4 months after I got it. but I was in the service and deployed and talking with those at home was more important than gaming so I never sent it in under warranty and just used one of those programs that turned the fan speed up and a cooling pad. well now that it is out of warranty if finally burned up one of the memory chips on the vid card yesterday after a pillow fell on it and sat for a few hours. how much does a single heat pipe 7900gs run for a e1705? what about the dual heat pipe?

    It's hard to get a single pipe GS since Dell stopped getting it from nvidia quite awhile ago.

    If the system is out of warranty, just get a 2500M from Ebay for about 200 dollars.

    You would have to break a piece that blocks 2nd heat pipe on the bottom housing, but it's pretty easy task, and you will see pretty nice improvement over your GS.

    2500M=7900GTX
    3500M=7950GTX

    Only difference is bios.
