Hello to all, I was just informed that you can not change the nic on the 1705 from a 100mbps to a 1gbps

so Iam forced to get a pc card, and I wanted to know what do you all recommend? I really do need a gigabit card all my other systems on my network have them and I do move large files across my network alot.

so talk to me, what would you guys suggest?

    Thanks in advance

    I use this one:
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=277569

I hated the Linksys one. I gotta tell ya though, this express slot is right in your way with the mouse and that silly 34mm slot is not a sloid connection. It works find but it's easy to knock it out.

I really wanted an integrated gigbit nic, but I couldn't justify the additional money to upgrade to XPS.

wow so the xps models are the only ones with the gigabit networking onboard?

and what do you mean in the way with the mouse, an external mouse?

yes, as far as I know, they are the only ones that come with a gigabit nic.

re: the mouse, I mean that the card sticks way out the side and if you use a mouse it can get in the way. I wish it were on the other side.

By the way, I also tried this:
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=281799

but the speeds were terrible. It was more like 100mbps connection.
