Well, having just received a TMD replacement for my bad CMO, I have to agree with you. Until you see the difference first hand, you just don't know what you're missing!

Im interested to see some side by side pics. But if you got a bad cmo then i guess theres no point. I read on the mac forums that the macbook air is shiping with chi mei displays. But its a version 2 of the 13.3 led which chi mei started producing in november. Maybe thats why the latest chi mei have had good feed back. Would love to see side by side showing full brightness bars on screen

It's not the brightness, it's the way colors just pop on the TMD screen. The difference was immediately noticeable. Again, had I not seen both (and except for my 10 bright pixels on the CMO which necessitated the replacement), I would have been perfectly happy with the CMO.

The TMD and CMO product pages you refer to is for CCFL not LED!

BTW CMO is heavier than TMD! and slower response time.

    The CMO panel is:

    13.3-inch (34 cm) WXGA (1280 x 800)
    Type TN Panel
    300 nits (cd/m²)
    Double COG/LED backlight
    Contrast Ratio of 500:1
    25 ms Response Time
    View Angles (U/D/R/L) 60°/60°/50°/60°
    Weight 245 g

The TMD panel in contrast is advertized with the following specs:

    13.3-inch (34 cm) WXGA (1280 x 800)
    Type TN Panel
    300 nits (cd/m²)
    Power usage 4.0 W
    Weight 225 g
