hello all, i installed Bioshock this evening, during update of the directx and other stuffs a message was shown which told me to download latest driver version for my graphics card that is 8400m GS. i searched and found update 178.24 version, but after the name of the card was written 8400 GS, m was not there, then i completed the installation of the game downloaded the driver( havent installed yet), and started the game in low settings and 1024*720 resolution. it was smooth and playable, but i really felt the lack of detail could have been gained with better card. however my question is that will it be better to update the driver? how is this version? will it cause anything bad to my laptop? and if it is the same driver for 8400 and 8400m. i have Orange box, F.E.A.R, Assasins creed and Crysis. Pls tell me if those games will run on my system and what should be the optimum settings for individual games and how they will relate to the driver versions.

YOU MUST ASK IN XPS/VOSTRO SECTION! -

Update the driver, most people looking for performance out of their mobile graphics cards use modded desktop drivers -www.laptopvideo2go.com
Assuming you downloaded from nvidia, chances are if you try to install that driver it will merely say "no supported graphics card detected" or something like that, and then cancel. The only drivers you can install are either ones from dell (go to their website - search for drivers)
or modded ones like those from laptopvid2go.
Regularily updating your drivers is very important as large performance gains can often occur via simply updating.
BTY 178.24 is one of the best out at the moment.
- most of those games should work well, crysis maybe not so well.
Also bigdarkmad - leave it to the mods. -
