i was thinking how to change Volume without all time pressing Fn key.

the answer was very very easy.

    1. reboot and press F2 ......(BIOS)
    2. change function key to multimedia key ..............save & exit
    restart your computer.............DONE

now you can use your F-keys (red labelled keys) without pressing Fn key.......... .so much better

Thanks for the information but like baiii said, I don't want to be hitting fn-f5 to refresh anything or alt-fn-f4 to close a program. I don't need to use the function keys that badly that I want to make them permanent.

Actually if you open up the Dell Quickset program where you can change the volume, wireless, etc, you can easily change the function key to the multimedia key. NO need to change the setting in the BIOS.

I have always kept my keyboard in an original state to make it more compatible with all the programs.

But this is good info anyway.
