    hard disk problem?

    hi all im new here. i got my dell latitude d820 and i like it but currently i got a big problem..

    when i do error checking for my hard disk, it is unable to complete.. i do not know why but is this a bad sign for my pc? is the hdd a goner?

    hope to get some replies soon.. i just got my pc for nearly 2 months only..

    I'm not 2 sure bout this but u might wanna try 2 re-install ur system 2 c if that helps.

    Are you doing the boot-up hard disk checker or using a program? I'd suggest downloading HDTune:
    http://www.hdtune.com/
    ...and using the disk error checker in there. Since you don't know whether there are problems are not with your HDD, I'd suggest backing up your data and other stuff, just in case.

    Maybe just the system thought it was okey, download speed fan and see the statues of your HD by using S.M.A.R.T

    Try calling dell your hard drive is probably dying

    Go with Chaz's suggestion. If HD tune fails, then call Dell and ask for a replacement. You can use Acronis, Ghost or something similar to that to back up your HDD and put the image on the new hdd.
