Hi! I've recently purchased and started using a new latitude d820. It is equipped with a 60gb 7200rpm hard drive. However, it feels really hot when in use (just the hard drive part of the chassis, especially the bottom). THis occurs during normal web surfing and word processing. SpeedFan records the hard drive's temperature at 43 Degrees C. Is it hot to an abnormal temperature? thanx to all in advance

Hello, I have the same hard disk in my laptop. It does run hotter than others. But it is a very good decision to have a 7200RPM hard disk in. Get a notebook cooler from antec or targus. That should lower the temperature by around 5 to 6 degrees celcius. Always keep HDTUNE running on desktop. Also do not keep the laptop on BEDDING. It blocks the heat transfer. Keep something below it to lift it a little bit to make the heat come out.

Good suggestion. After seeing bottom of my 700m, I never use my laptop on the bed anymore. It got very hot to the point wireless was being dropped and all the letters on the stickers disappeared, even Windows XP Pro Key is getting difficult to see now.
