i've heard that the dell laptops, or at least the most recent ones, can have its hardware upgraded. i just want to know if this is true?
i want to be able to upgrade my graphics card to the nvidia 8-series (or any dx10 card) when i need to without buying a new laptop.
also, can the processor be upgraded too? or is that a no-no?

Yes, you can ugrade hardware in some Dells. Graphic cards generally cannot be upgraded. Some models, however, can have their cards upgraded, but the cost is often very high. The percentage for these upgradable notebooks is very, very low.
The processor can be upgraded, in almost all models. Excpet those, which have theirs soldered to the motherboard. Upgrading a processor is still difficult, as you have to remove the cooling system, but other than that it is quite straight forward. Bear n mind, it does break the warranty on most models. -
If dell has 8 series cards made for the e1705 and released on the same motherboard than we are in luck. Otherwise, in all likelyhood, upgrading will not be an option.

You can only upgrade to video cards that are specifically offered for that particular model. Even if dell changes cards in the future for that model, you can still upgrade to it.

you can always buy a docking station that dell sells and theres a PCI-E input in the docking station, so i am sure you can hook up an 8800 to the docking station.
