i am thinking about upgrading my 1520 ram. i have 2 GB. please feel free to comment on one or more of several questions-

    1) if i were to, say, get 2 x 1 GB DIMMs (800 mhz/5 ms CAS) from newegg and toss them in there in place of the Dell ram- would i see a performance increase?

    2) if i replaced one of the Dell 1 GB DIMMS with a 2 GB (800 mhz/5 ms CAS) stick, would i see a performance increase? also, what would happen to the 'dual channel'? i have heard that 1 GB of the new stick would be dual channel with 1 GB of the Dell stick (the 'top' 1 GB would be single channel), but would this be at the slower speed/cas of the Dell stick?

    3) i am looking for the RAM option that gives me the best performance boost. what do you suggest? i am especially looking for the experiences of those who have actually upgraded their ram in some way. let me know what you did and how it worked out for you!

i realize these questions have been asked before- so here's *****ing at me so you don't have to.

    woOt!

1.) if you already have 2GB of memory, you won't see a difference between Dell and other brands.
2.) No point in upgrading to a different brand; these are laptops, not desktops.

Check out this thread regarding memory upgrade for Vostro 1500. Apparently if you have two different sized modules it may impact performance.
