I got the 160gig hdd in my 1520i and it will occasionally make a single "click" sound. Doesn't seem to do it when the computer is working harder than normal though. everything runs fine but the noise has me worried. I got 140gb of stuff on this thing i can't really lose.

You need to learn to backup your DATA before it is too late.

Black friday is coming up. Get yourself a 500GB external drive to backup your data.

If it is a single click, maybe the drive was in standby (after 20 minutes or so)

If it is a couple of clicks, you need to start thinking WARRANTY replacement.

The data backup is my problem, not yours. Besides, a friend is putting together a small server for me just for that purpose.

Backup is always sound advice. I would also get a program called Spinrite which is great at detecting, warning, and even repairing problems with drives.

It's not that I don't know about back-up, it's that I don't have the capacity to do so. I don't have the money to dish out for an external drive. School gives me 3 gigs which is nowhere near enough for all me stuff. It is enough, however, for my important stuff.

Agreed... From the original post he seemed to be really inticing someone to ask him to do a backup...

Backup was actually a good advice.....Already a person has given u the link to a possible solution...follow that....It helped me with the same problem

And now don't tell me that "sleeping is my problem, not yours" :D

Alright, so keep the clicking problem to yourself as well then. The guy gave sound and realistic advice. If it's not in your capacity to follow it for whatever reason, then that's your problem.
