    i have a new Toshiba MK6021GAS 2.5" hdd. I need some help on how to partition it with out using the xp cd because when i boot with he recovery cd it doesn't recognize a hard drive as being in there how should i partition it?

    that didn't work i still coulndt get it to recognize there was a drive there any other suggestions?

    First check whether the HDD is recognized by the BIOS.
