i just got my 1530 xps in the mail yesterday .. i am in Iraq currently and the laptop is really nice
but
the hinge where the screen swivels is split right above where the dell symbol is on the right side... the screen is not damaged and everything works great..
there is a slight problem when trying to close the lid. since the side piece is cracked it dosnt close right.. and the housing that covers the face of the screeen starts to bend and have issues unless i push the cracked peice with it.
i know its really hard to explain.
can i order the whole part that holds the screen and replace this myself? or do i have to send it back to dell.
normally i wouldnt think twice about this but since im in iraq everything takes alot longer to get to and from when it comes to mail

Try calling Dell. They tell you what to do. Sometimes they send you the part and a manual, but sometimes they want to do it themselves. I don't know if this is a DIY job.

You can definitely just have them send you the part. Most times this is no problem, but you may have to call a couple times if the rep is resistant to sending you the part. All the instructions are on the Dell site for changing out parts like this.

Call Dell and ask for POS (parts only service). Given your current geographical location, I am sure that the would be willing to comply.
help..
