have a huge problem with my Dell 6000! .. the DVD drive is acting strange .. sometimes it won't read a CD or DVD .. sometimes it works just fine .. it burns CDs/DVDs, but the CDs & DVDs give strange errors .. looking at the Dell support web-site, there's no driver available for this particular DVD model .. TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B .. has anyone had a similar experience with their Dell 6000? .. does anyone have a new updated driver for this DVD drive? ..

I have the same drive, nothing wrong for now.
Cd's drives don't need special drivers, they just use Windows ones.
Sounds like you got a faulty optical drive, just call support and tell them about it.

    By the way:
TSST = Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology

I think I got a similar problem as you, Camel. I will probably RMA the drive.

My 6000 has an NEC drive. But to me it sounds like drives are faulty. BTW, my old Toshiba had a problem where sometimes when I started it up the optical drive wasn't recognized and odds are it had a Toshiba made drive of some sort so maybe it's a problem with the brand of drive. Either way you should get ahold to tech support and get it replaced.

Try deleting the secondary IDE drivers and restarting windows. This will reset the drivers, and maybe help your problem.
