Hi everyone! If kindly help a brother out. I just bought a Studio 1537 for my lady and i was unable to install windows 7 64 bit RC. It's saying

"the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (bit) or x64 (bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I don't have a problem installing it on my XPS M1530.

The Studio is running windows vista 32 bit so does that mean i needed the 32 bit version?

You can't upgrade 32-bit Windows to 64-bit or vice versa.

If you want to go 64-bit you'll need to do a fresh install.

Hi, is this how you do a fresh install? Hit F12 for boot menu and click on cd/dvd/cd-rw drive for my main boot option? If so it's not working. If not, could you point me to the right direction? thanks..

You should be able to start the install from inside windows, choose "Custom Install", then select the current drive.

What happens when you try to boot from the CD? Yes, to boot off the disk you press F12 and select "CD/DVD". It should have a plus sign next to it if it's recognized as bootable.
