    hey all, im upgrading my m1210 memory from 1GB to 2GB. i made the mistake of getting 2x 512mb dimms when i first got it, so now i have to replace both.

    i know i need to get dual channel DDR2 memory, but what about the options like PC4200, PC5400, PC6400, or PC8000? also what about the Mhz such as 667mhz or 533mhz?

    any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Short answer is you need PC5300 (= PC5400, same thing, just marketing trick) which is the same as 667MHz, the reason being that the Core 2 Duo notebook version has a 667MHz bus so this will allow you to run the memory synchronously with the CPU allowing best performance.

    Basically,

    PC4200 = 533MHz
    PC5300 = 667MHz
    etc.

    Thanks!

    one more question, what about "Memory CAS Latency"?

    Make sure you get SODIMM DDR2 ram. These are notebook rams, not desktop rams. PC6400 and PC8000 currently do not exist as SODIMM RAM. They are desktop RAMs. The 667MHz has a higher CAS latency than the 533MHz stick which will "nullify" its MHz speed advantage.
