I agree with you; the Inspiron has a slightly better graphics card, while the 15z has a slightly better processor.

Of note though, the Sandy Bridge processor in the 15z gives it Optimus technology, potentially being able to turn off the nVidia card to save battery life when on battery. The ATI card in the Inspiron would probably clock itself low when on battery to save power as well, but I bet the 15z will have overall better battery life than the Inspiron. Something to keep in mind if battery life is important.

The only other difference I see is the size and weight difference between the two. The 15z is being billed by Dell as the lightest and thinest PC for its screen size. If portability/size/weight/thinness is a factor in your decision, the 15z would win this category.

However, I cannot say anything about whether the 15z's small size has or has not compromised laptop ventilation. I'd look for a 15z owner's thread, and see if there are any owners complaining about big glaring issues.

well i wayed up the pros and cons.

I picked the xps. The better speakers the optimus graphics switching for battery saving sound good.

    Cost me 500 quid. Has the core i5 2410, nvidia 525m, 640gb 7200rpm drive, 4gb ddr3.
