I'd get the 1420, IMO becuase it looks better, has a better processor, and an Intel Wireless Card. The processor in the 1420 is SO MUCH better than the 1520. As for other changes, I'd get Office from somewhere else...and I'd get a different color other than White/Black as that has a MUCH better finish to it ;)

Looks better? I thought they looked the same, except the 1420 is smaller.

As for the processor, that can be upgraded in the 1520, but of course at a bigger cost to you.

For the setup you have picked, the 1420 has the best specs. As I said above, the 1520 could be the exact same but it will be a little more pricey, not by a whole lot though.

Also, if you're going to need this for college, I wouldn't suggest getting any color except white/black. The chances of you getting it soon are slim, but they are slowly getting better.

Conclusion: The 1420 you configured had the best specs.

Edit: Just realized the 1420 had the 8400M GS GPU. I wouldn't suggest that if you want to play new games at mid-high settings. From what I heard around here, while it's powerful, it will definitely hinder you in the future. The 8600M GT is more future-proof.

No, they are very different...other than the fact that the 1420 is smaller.

Yes the processor CAN be upgraded, but he posted a precise price range and precise pre-built specifications.

Really? I guess I should go look at some pics then. I thought the 1420, 1520, and 1720 looked the same except the sizes.
