hello, I'm just wanted to check w you smart folks to see if the new laptop I'm building is sensible and if i should add or delete anything. I'm using this laptop for college use, so nothing too heavy, just word processing, going through large images, probably no gaming, watch movies and listen to music. my main concern is the i3-350 vs. i5-450. As i said, not too heavy usage with my computer, and it costs around 50 bucks to upgrade. is it worth it? so far, here is my spec

    Studio 15 Laptop
    NEW 2010 Intel® Core™ i3-330M 2.13GHz (3M cache)
    4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz
    Back-lit Keyboard
15.6” High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife™ and Camera
    Intel® HD Graphics
    500GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    Black Chainlink
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
    Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 9, Multiple Languages
8X Slot Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
    High Definition Audio 2.2
    Intel Wireless 6200
    No Touch Software
    Microsoft® Office Starter 2010
    McAfee SecurityCenter, 15-Months
85 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)
    1 Year Basic Service Plan
Dell Online Backup 2GB for 1 year

And also, if anybody has any idea to make it cheaper... say through coupons or something, it would be so helpful, I'm trying to save as much money as possible. Thank you so much!!

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I finally decided on the i3. Its cheaper and will do everything I need to do (same things as you). Also someone correct me if I am wrong but I think the i3 will have better battery life then the i5 processor.
I have only played with my new Inspiron 15 1 day but it is a very good multitasking processor. I was surfing the net, on live messenger (talking to 1 person), play a high definition movie, and had word open. It did not go slow at all.
    I hope this helps!
Also if you look in my history of thread I made I have a thread made about (i3 vs i5) if i remember correctly.

I also have the i3-350m in my new Inspiron 15R, it is excellent. I am a college student too, I don't game and like to watch HD movies and so far it has been perfect. I think the specs for processor speed is very similar the main difference being the Turbo Boost on the i5. Wich from what I hear is almost unoticable for regular computing. I don't know how much your studio is priced but for around $599 (if you call when you order and negotiate) I got my 15R specd pretty much the same, except 5400 RPM 500GB HDD and no backlit keyboard. It has been fantastic so far!!
