I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a HDD that's in imminent danger of complete failure and would like to save the Dell restore partition to transplant over to a new replacement HDD. I'm currently in the process of doing a complete clone of the drive, which is taking a while as the drive is also littered with bad sectors. I'm not even sure if the restore partition is free from errors and am wondering if I completely trash everything on this failing drive, is it possible to download something from Dell that would handle downloading all the crap Dell installs on their notebooks... drivers, Dell software, etc. or would I have to manual search and download them?

    Hi,

if you go to http://support.dell.com you can download all the drivers for your laptop after having entered your service tag in the "download drivers..." section.

As for the software preinstalled (you didn't get install discs, and you didn't create your recovery discs?), I remember there was a website from Dell which gives users the opportunity to download the stuff again, but I don't know if that works for you: https://smartsource.dell.com/Web/Welcome.aspx

If anything fails, you need to order recovery discs from Dell customer support.
