hey guys, just got my 1720, overview, maybe pics

hey guy.i got my 1720 ruby red yesterday, and it is beautiful.i am typing this on it right now.here is an overview
reason for buying

it was my birthday, and i wanted to get a laptop.i neverused a laptop before, so i wanted to try one.i looked firstly at dells, because i like their brand.then i started to look at others, but my mind was set on dell, so i bought it.

screenn was wxga, and i detected no signs of graninyness.also, it is a SEC screen(samsung).it is a beautiful screen
screen:10/10

keyboard.
the keyboard is so soft that you feel like you would sleep on it if it was bigger.the keys are placed in perfect places, and the whole keyboardg feels so good when typing. 10/10

touchpad.
i have to say the touchpad isnt as good as supsected, because it you can accidently touch it while typing, which clicks on something else.it is ok though

vista

vista on here is beautiful.although it takes some time getting used to, it is awesome.8/10

speakers.
i have to say the placement of the speakers arent so good(they are almost under the laptop, on the bottom. but the quality of sound is perfect.the sound come clear and very nicely.the speakers would have to be a 8/10

media buttons

the media buttons are very cool and stylish.they light up when you press them , and have a sleek look.
10/10

cd drive
the cd drives reads the disc quickly, and plays it proplerly.it also comes out fast(when you press the button)

well, thats pretty much it.just to notify you, the colors you see online by pic look nothing like it whatsoever.the color is beaautiful!i will try to post pics , nut i am a grade 8 guy, and have much to do for getting ready for high school.i will try to update this as soon as possible with pics, so stay tuned.also there is a problem in here.when i plug it in , the speed is fne of the computer, but when i unplug it, the speedis extremely slow.i am not even kidding.is there a solution to the problem, or do i have to call dell and tell them to give me a replacement?i will really try to post pics of its actual color.thanks. see ya

I miss typing on a soft quiet notebook keyboard actually. My dad still swears by his circa 1992 IBM keyboard.lol. that thing has individual spring, weight about 7 pounds and can be heard from down he street. the travel on that thing is about an inch

 

Manu.... you know you can disable the "tap click" on the touchpad? Right click on the touchpad icon on the bottom right of your taskbar. There should be an option checked that says "tap to click" or something like that. If not, go to your control panel, mouse settings, touchpad, and there should be an option to disable it from there. It annoys the hell out of me, and is the first thing I disable when I get a laptop.

Actually, when you unplug it, it lowers the CPU speed and other things and goes into power savings to save battery, so thats why your system feels slow when on battery.

You need to adjust power options by going into Control Panel>Power

You can adjust various settings over there but try and find out about each and every one of them, if you are unsure.

 

here are some pics.the color pic is the same as the real color, so youll have an idea of how beautiful it looks.if you want more pics, just ask.also, one of the pics is an example of windows aero, the one with the windows all truned around.

nice pics...i think you need to fix the date on your camera tho... the 17" arent as big as i had thought.

sorry for the double post, but here is a pic of where the speakers are.i dont believe that they put it here, because the sound gets muffled away, but they are okay.
hey nizzy, i know what you mean.i need change the date of my camera, and the 17" arent that big.but, you souldnt worry about the weight, they are HEAVY!!!!

 

Imagine if you had that back in '01. It'll OWN EVERYTHING... even the most heavily overclocked computers. I think back then 1GB was like the max. P4 2GHz? not even HT

 

that would be cool to have this in 2001.i1 thought, people would be amazed enough to see vista when xp wasnt even out!(i think)

 

i am going to return exchange thi for a new one, because the processor works SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sloow when on battery. it takes 20 minutes to load wista, and like 5 minutes to load a page.it sometimes doesnt even boot up!how could dell have sent me a processor that must have been in the garbage.. also, the cd drive make way to much noise, and takes forever to load a cd, and theexpresscard slots latch sometimes doesnt even go back in!they said i should get my replacement in 10-15 days, a month tops.what time do you guys think it should come in?
