    I got a dell 1721 and the letter "y" fell off my keybored and i need help fixin it

    You might as well call for a keyboard replacement. Those are practically impossible to reassemble.

    Dell considers it a user-replaceable part, so they'd send it to you and you don't have to send the laptop to them.

    There should be some tabs on the keyboard that click into the plastic frame on the back of the key. If any of these are broken, you should call Dell if you are still under warranty and have them fix it; if not, you'll have to buy a replacement. At any rate, try to click the key back onto the keyboard.
